Comments: It astounds me that a mere man could make something so exquisite when he is usually so violent and unfeeling

Comments: This painting is a wonderful display of the High Renissaince Peroid. The depth of the background and the figures is very well constructed, causing the figures to not just blend into the picture plain.

Comments: I adore the colors Raphael uses in his paintings. His red is such a pure, rosy, orangeless shade, and it contrasts so beautifully with the greens and purples and whites. His paintings always remind me of a Christmas.

Comments: the painting is exquisite, the main feild of the picture is divided horizontally into two separate zones. Below the 12 Apostles are disposed around the simply decorated sarcophagus of the deceased Mary, some looking to the vision above with that ecstatic expression so dear to Perugino. But the bodies of all but 2 Apostles are cut off from view, giving a degree of instability to these firgures and to the entire lower portion of the picture.Furthermore, the oblique placement of Mary's stone tomb creates a void at the center of the pictorial field, broken only by a feww flowers that grow out of it..
